RIMS was developed
by Interface & Control Systems to address the needs of remotely monitoring satellite data feeds
and archiving content to provide historical trend data and performance
analysis services. The highly
automated nature of the underlying SCL expert system allows real-time data
analysis and alarm processing while the RIMS Java-based GUI provides color
coded alarms and graphical trends to web-based clients. The RIMS
system allows insight into a real-time data stream in a non-interfering
manner with existing operations. The RIMS toolset includes the SCL
real-time Expert System which can be used to automate monitor and control operations,
provide insight into trends in the data and alert operators to potential
problems. The SCL system is designed to provide incremental upgrades
to the monitor and control capabilities without having to reload code.
The RIMS system is built upon commercial web
server and Internet technologies…allowing remote access via common
web browsers. The system is designed to use commercial off the
shelf PCs to archive and monitor real-time data feeds. The
System supports up to 15 remote users per server.
RIMS
is built upon our portable, embeddable SCL
architecture which has been proven in control
centers for DoD and NASA. The SCL architecture provides a clear
separation of decision-making logic from procedural logic. Intelligent, real-time alerts can be generated based on any
event whether directly received from sensor data
or derived from algorithms. With 24/7 reliability,
full scalability, and plug-in capabilities for new, extended, or
legacy technologies, RIMS supports the real-time remote monitoring
and alert capabilities that are essential in modern intelligent
solutions.
Inherent to the design is an
ability to service popular web browsers such as Internet Explorer
5.0 or higher. This capability combined with commercial
encryption standards allows secure monitor and control from virtually
anywhere in the world.
Users are authenticated through a secure logon, and and client data security is
assured through the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) transmissions.
Additionally, the system allows remote debugging using the SCL Viewer,
optionally, a user can command a system from a remote web session as well.
All administration of the system can be accomplished remotely.
