GeoSat Follow-On (GFO) Satellite

ICS was teamed with Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. in Boulder, Colorado for the development of the GFO satellite and ground system. GFO is a radar altimeter used to measure ocean wave heights and currents. Data from GFO is used for Navy Fleet forecasting. ICS was under contract to produce the ground control system used at the Naval Satellite Operations Center (NAVSOC, Pt. Mugu CA), and two remote tracking sites. The ground control system is used to perform health and status monitoring of the GFO satellite on a daily basis. The SCL system was used as an advisory system for operator assistance. SCL was also used as a satellite simulator for dress-rehearsal of flight command loads.

This system was delivered for acceptance testing in February of 1996 and has been deployed to the NAVSOC Field site. The GFO satellite was successfully launched in February 1998 and is currently still on orbit.
