The increasing success of SCL is evident in the growing diversity of its applications for more than a decade. Originally developed for the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), SCL went on to become the primary command and control system, on the ground and in space, for the recently launched Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) mission.

ICS engineers developed the “Spacecraft Command Language” (SCL) as an embedded software system to operate a U.S. Navy satellite for 180 days without ground intervention. The autonomy, performance and reliability requirements of this mission demanded an elegant solution. The expert system not only exceeded expectation and demands, but it established a solid basis for the COTS product known today as SCL.

SCL enables you to build a command and control system for ground and/or space applications. You specify the behavior of the system using a full-featured scripting language, where you can control and respond to events in a rules- or time-based manner. In some cases, these applications monitor thousands of rapidly changing sensors and direct hundreds of actuators based on complex logic.

SCL is designed as a collection of reusable components that are integrated through a powerful, custom database. As a result, SCL can operate wherever a control system is needed.

SCL is highly customizable, either on your own using our Application Programmers’ Interface (API), or with the help of our highly trained and motivated engineering staff.
